About QAST

Welcome to QAST!

Qatar Academy for Science and Technology (QAST) is a high school designed to develop Qatar's next generation of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) innovators.

QAST is designed for both boys and girls, with co-gendered classrooms. We accept academically talented students from across Qatar. Currently, about half of our students are Qatari nationals and the other half are expatriates from the region.

From the very first day of school, our students learn about and participate in research designed to help solve some of Qatar's Grand Challenges.

At QAST, our students develop the academic and practical hands-on skills needed to conduct scientific research projects. With data in hand, they then create innovative solutions using an impressive range of tools such as 3D printers, laser cutters, and numerous other fabrication methods.

In order to help solve these problems, QAST students take demanding Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses. With this knowledge, they master critical hands-on and 21st Century skills necessary to apply their knowledge to real solutions.

The first two years at QAST are composed of advanced Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, English, Social Studies and Arabic/Islamic Studies classes.

During the last two years, students take A level and AP courses while also participating in short, then long, internships. These internships provide real-world work-related perspectives needed for students to understand the current state-of-the-art work practices for each Grand Challenge.

If your child has a strong interest in the sciences and would like to help make Qatar a better place for all of its citizens and residents, then QAST is where they belong. Mission

Qatar Academy for Science and Technology empowers students to become innovators who master the knowledge and skills required to create solutions for challenges that face Qatar and the world.

Core values

  1. We gain the power to shape the future through the pursuit of knowledge.
  2. Each person is unique and inherently possesses immeasurable worth.
  3. Integrity and respect are fundamental to thriving communities.
  4. Dedication, exploration, and service are essential for achieving growth.

Delimiters

  • We will only accept students who meet our eligibility criteria.
  • We will only accept learning opportunities that promote or extend our mission, core values, and curriculum.
  • We will only accept changes to our curriculum that support our students’ ambitions including access to the world’s most selective universities.
  • We will operate with fiscal responsibility to ensure financial sustainability.
  • We will operate in a way that allows both students and teachers to have time for personal interests beyond the school day.

Qatar has identified engineering and scientific challenges facing Qatar and listed those challenges essential to the long-term stability and sustainability of Qatar. These challenges include water, food, energy, and environmental sustainability, to name a few. While Qatar has made these their own challenges, all other countries face them too. Thus, as our students solve problems for Qatar, they solve the world's problems at the same time.

In Grades 9 and 10 we will be addressing:

  • Water security
  • Energy security
  • Cyber security
  • Healthcare
  • Sustainable Food Supply
  • Mobility & Road Safety
  • Support of Culture, Arts, Heritage, Media and Language within the Arabic Context
